Welcome to the Springfield Hospital University Regeneration Public Inquiry Documents Website
In early 2011, the London Borough of Wandsworth refused planning permission and listed building consent for the regeneration of the Springfield Hospital site. This was followed in February 2011 by the refusal of the related application for listed building consent.
The Trust’s overriding responsibility is to ensure that patients are cared for in modern, purpose-built facilities which will best aid their recovery. Clinical evidence and the regular feedback of patients and carers clearly demonstrate that an environment of safety, privacy and dignity is integral to effective care and recovery. It is on the basis of this duty of care, above all, that the Trust Board decided – in June 2011 - to submit an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate.
